Family Warmth. Cosmetic Craft.
A high-end family and cosmetic dental home in the heart of Sonoma County. Dr. Scott Bonin coordinates every step of your care, including the moments that call for a trusted specialist, so the outcome is always the right one for you.
Our Story
Deep roots in Sonoma County
Our practice has cared for Sonoma County smiles since 1993. Originally founded by Dr. Kurt Mitchler in Healdsburg, the practice moved to its current Windsor location in 2006 to better serve the growing Windsor, Larkfield, Fulton, and Mark West Springs communities. In 2021, Dr. Scott Bonin took over with a commitment to preserving the same high standards of care and personal attention that patients have trusted for decades.
Dr. Bonin's values align closely with Dr. Mitchler's legacy: thoughtful, relationship-based dentistry where your comfort and long-term health come first. Our goal at every visit is the same one the practice started with: treat you the way we would want to be treated, with respect, patience, and clarity. When you walk in, you are not a chart number and you are not a production goal. You are a neighbor whose trust we want to earn every time.
We combine modern clinical training and digital technology with a quieter, more personal office environment. Most of our patients stay with us for years and refer their families; the highest compliment a dental office can receive. That continuity matters clinically, too. When Dr. Bonin has known a patient for a decade, he can often see the slow changes in a bite or the early signs of a worn filling long before they become a problem. Good dentistry rewards long relationships.
Windsor sits at the heart of north Sonoma County, and our patients come from every direction: Healdsburg families coming down Highway 101, Santa Rosa professionals heading north after work, Rohnert Park students on their way to Sonoma State, wine-country residents from Dry Creek and Alexander Valley, retirees in Oakmont, and rural families from Forestville and Cloverdale. The practice has always reflected the mix of the region. Ranchers, growers, tradespeople, teachers, nurses, vineyard workers, winemakers, software engineers, and retirees all sit in our chairs, and our care has to meet each of them where they are.
Treat patients the way we would want to be treated, with respect, patience, and clarity.
Meet the Doctor
Dr. Scott Bonin, DDS
Dr. Bonin brings calm, compassionate care to every visit. His approach blends modern cosmetic and restorative dentistry with a patient-first philosophy: listen first, explain clearly, treat conservatively, follow up.
Whether you are new to the area, new to dentistry, or new to a practice, you will be guided through every step with no rushed appointments and no pressured treatment plans.
How We Practice
Dentistry done at a human pace
Modern dentistry can feel rushed. Corporate offices push through patients on tight production quotas, and the result is often a visit that leaves you with more questions than answers. We do not practice that way. A new patient exam here takes roughly 60 to 90 minutes because that is how long it actually takes to do the job right. We review medical history, take digital X-rays, perform an oral cancer screening, evaluate gum health, check your bite, and sit with you to explain what we found. If nothing needs to be done, we tell you that. If something does, we show you why on the X-ray and discuss options before anyone picks up a handpiece.
That pace carries through every appointment. Dr. Bonin typically schedules longer blocks than most offices because quality restorative work is not a stopwatch procedure. A crown appointment here is not sandwiched between two hygiene visits and a limited exam. It gets the time and attention it needs, and so do you.
We also believe in conservative treatment. When there is a choice between saving a tooth and extracting it, we lean toward saving it. When a filling will do the job, we do not sell you a crown. When watchful waiting is clinically appropriate, we watch and wait. Over-treatment is one of the most common complaints patients bring to us from their former dentists, and we take that feedback seriously. Your mouth is not a revenue center; it is the reason you eat, speak, and smile with confidence.
What makes this possible is the team. Our hygienists are experienced, thorough, and genuinely curious about each patient's history. Our front office handles insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and financing questions so you do not have to chase anyone. When you leave our office, you know what was done, what it means, and what comes next.
Our Philosophy
What patients can expect
- Thorough new-patient exams with time to ask questions
- Conservative treatment planning: we save natural teeth whenever possible
- Transparent, itemized estimates before treatment begins
- Insurance coordination handled by our front office team
- Gentle sedation and anxiety-reduction options
- Follow-up calls after complex procedures
Technology & Comfort
Modern tools, quiet confidence
The right technology matters because it makes dentistry more accurate, more comfortable, and in most cases, faster. Our office uses digital radiography with significantly reduced radiation compared to traditional film, intraoral cameras so you can see what we see, and modern electric handpieces that are quieter and produce less vibration. For implant planning, we coordinate with trusted oral surgeons who use cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to map bone volume and nerve pathways in three dimensions before anyone places a post.
Comfort is just as important as technology. We offer nitrous oxide for patients who get anxious, oral conscious sedation for longer visits or fearful patients, and for everyone, the simpler comforts: a warm blanket, noise-reducing headphones, a clear explanation of what is about to happen, and a hand signal to pause at any time. Dental anxiety is real and it is common. We do not rush it, we do not judge it, and we have helped many patients who once dreaded the dentist get back into a comfortable routine of care.
Our office is designed to feel more like a well-appointed professional space than a clinical corridor. The waiting area is small and quiet because we do not overbook. Treatment rooms have natural light where possible. Every operatory is sanitized to OSHA and CDC standards between patients, and our sterilization protocols exceed California Dental Board requirements. That level of cleanliness is simply expected in a modern office; what we add to it is calm.

Common Questions
What new patients often ask
How does insurance work at your office?
We file claims to your insurance as a courtesy, so the paperwork stays off your plate. We do not currently participate in Denti-Cal or HMO networks. Call (707) 838-1400 with your plan information and we will verify your benefits before your appointment so there are no surprises at check-in.
What if I have not been to the dentist in years?
You are not alone, and you are welcome here. Many of our new patients tell us it has been five, ten, or even fifteen years since their last cleaning. There is no lecture waiting for you. We start with a comprehensive exam, take digital X-rays, and walk you through what we find at a pace that feels comfortable. Most people are relieved once they have a clear picture and a sensible plan.
Do you see kids?
Yes. We see children, teens, and adults. Most family dentistry happens in our practice without referral, and when a child has a specialized need that would be better handled by a pediatric specialist, we say so and refer appropriately.
What if I need a procedure you do not perform in-house?
Dr. Bonin performs the vast majority of general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry in our office, including implants (restorative phase), crowns, bridges, veneers, Invisalign, fillings, root canals, and extractions. For complex oral surgery, IV sedation, or cases with unusual anatomy, he refers to trusted local specialists and coordinates care closely so your experience stays seamless.
